Singapore: Quick Guide to Coffee and Tea

So you finally decided to drop by one of Singapore’s hawker centers. You’ll find beverage stalls that sell different types coffee and tea disguised under “code names” (a.k.a. names in the local vernacular).

Here’s a quick guide to some of these beverages:

Coffee

  • Kopi – Coffee with condensed milk
  • Kopi-O – Black coffee / Coffee with sugar
  • Kopi-C – Coffee with milk (they usually use evaporated milk) and sugar

Tea

  • Teh – Tea with condensed milk
  • Teh-O – Tea with sugar
  • Teh-C – Tea with milk (they usually use evaporated milk) and sugar; a.k.a. your regular milk tea
  • Teh Tarik – Tea with condensed milk and evaporated milk
