Melbourne: Brother Baba Budan

It’s been more than a month since we came back from our trip to Australia and one of the things I miss is the coffee. As a coffee lover, I always make it a point to drop by a local coffee shop whenever I travel. I was a bit overwhelmed by the large number coffee shops in the Melbourne CBD. Unlike our hometown that is dominated by the large coffee chains, Melbourne was peppered with small specialty cafes. Good thing one of our hosts is a coffee lover too. She brought us to the cafes she frequent. Out of the many cafes we visited, these two were my favourites: Brother Baba Budan and Market Lane Coffee.

Among the cafes we went to, Brother Baba Budan is my favorite. The place is located a few blocks away from where we lived. It’s a nameless coffee shop located along Little Bourke Street. Good thing we had gracious hosts who brought us to this place — otherwise, we would’ve missed tasting the best cup of coffee in the Melbourne CBD. They don’t have a menu but they do have a list of brews available for the day.

Other than the great tasting coffee, one other thing I like about the place is their warm, cozy interior that’s conducive to reading a book or hanging out with friends. Unfortunately, we had a busy day ahead of us so we ordered take-away coffee instead.
