Pasig: Kapitolyo Food Trip (Part 2)

Every time we decide to eat out at the Kapitolyo area, our plan to eat at one place becomes a mini food trip. Today, we planned on eating at Charlie’s Grind and Grill. However, we ended up going to three restaurants:

  • Lia’s Cakes in Season: home of THE Avocado cake
  • Silantro: the Fil-Mex cantina, and
  • Charlie’s Grind and Grill’s: a place that serves amazing burgers.

While waiting for the other person to arrive, the three of us decided to have dessert as our first course. We chose Lia’s Cakes in Season because two of our party of three likes avocado.

Lia's - Avocado Cake (PhP 85)

Lia’s – Avocado Cake (PhP 85)

Avocado Cake (PhP 85): It’s basically chiffon cake with avocado cream icing topped with pistachios. The cake is a bit too sweet but good nonetheless.

Lia's - Avocado Cheesecake (PhP 95)

Lia’s – Avocado Cheesecake (PhP 95)

Avocado Cheesecake (PhP 95): It tastes like a regular cheesecake with a hint of avocado. In my opinion, it needs more avocado in it.

Our friend said he’s running late and will be arriving 20 minutes later. There’s really not much to do in Kapitolyo other than to eat, so we decided to have our appetizer. We all agreed to revisit one of our favorite restaurants in the area: Silantro.

Silantro - Silantro's Quesadilla (PhP 145)

Silantro – Silantro’s Quesadilla (PhP 145)

Silantro’s Quesadilla (PhP 145): I would like to take this opportunity to state that their signature quesadilla is one of the best chicken quesadillas I’ve ever tasted. Chicken with lots of gooey cheese in soft tortilla topped with fries. I don’t know how they make the cheese so gooey, nor how they cook the awesome fries, but this is definitely my favorite dish in this restaurant. If you like spicy food, top it with their chili sauce. (No official name for this sauce. Just ask for their spicy sauce.)

Aha! Our friend has finally arrived. We proceeded to the ever dependable Charlie’s Grind and Grill for our main course.

Charlie's - Black Angus Burger w/ Fries (PhP 245)

Charlie’s – Black Angus Burger w/ Fries (PhP 245)

Black Angus Burger w/ Fries (PhP 245): This juicy, great tasting burger is normally cooked medium well so it’s a bit pink inside. If you’re a condiments addict, ask for their american sauce (homemade ketchup with pickle relish) and garlic mayo. These two condiments goes well with the burger and fries.
