We chanced upon Escuela Taller Foundation’s exhibit during a random Sunday visit to the National Museum of the Philippines’ National Art Gallery.
The Escuela Taller selects disadvantaged but promising youth from areas all over the Philippines, trains these apprentices in occupational skills related to the restoration of the built heritage to help in the restoration of Intramuros and other built heritage sites in the Philippines.
Escuela Taller Intramuros
Mission: to educate marginalized Filipino youth in the spirit of self reliance.
Vision: Escuela Taller envisions highly-skilled workers in conservation.
The exhibit is held at the Old Senate Session Hall located at the 3/F National Art Gallery and will be open until August 3, 2014. Some projects showcased in the exhibit is the various woodwork and stone sculptures, restoration of the Malate Church doors, and the rehabilitation of Intramuros and Fort Santiago.
